What happened

The Tenant applied for an order determining that the Landlords entered the unit unlawfully, harassed them, and substantially interfered with their reasonable enjoyment. The Tenant alleged that the Landlords issued numerous improper entry notices while trying to sell the property and used high-pressure tactics to force them to move out, including threats and comments regarding their status as new immigrants.

The ruling

The Landlords were ordered to pay the Tenant $448.00 by July 27, 2025. This amount includes a $400.00 rent abatement for harassment and the $48.00 application fee. The LTB found that the Landlords harassed the Tenant by pressuring them to move out, making comments about their immigrant status, and threatening bad references, although the physical entries were deemed consensual.
