What happened
A guarantor, who was added as a party responsible for rent arrears in a previous order, requested a review. The guarantor argued that the LTB does not have jurisdiction to make orders against guarantors. The Board agreed, finding an error of jurisdiction in the original order. This review order removes the guarantor as a party from the original order, while the rest of the original order concerning the Landlord and Tenants remains unchanged.
The ruling
The Guarantor's request to review the order from January 16, 2025, is granted. The Guarantor, Sally Sharoyan, is removed as a party from that order because the LTB lacks jurisdiction over guarantors. The rest of the original order remains in effect, and the stay placed on it is lifted immediately.
