What happened
The Tenant filed a review request for an eviction order issued on April 22, 2025, which was granted after she failed to attend the initial hearing. The Tenant claimed she expected her legal representative to attend on her behalf and that she was inexperienced with legal matters. However, the LTB record showed no prior authorization for the representative, and the Tenant had acknowledged receiving the hearing notice months in advance. The Tenant also contested the amount of rent owed, claiming she performed work in exchange for rent credits.
The ruling
The request to review the eviction order is denied. The original order issued on April 22, 2025, remains in full force and effect. The stay of that order is lifted immediately, allowing the Landlord to proceed with eviction and collection of arrears.
