What happened
The Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant due to non-payment of rent. The Tenant was previously an employee of the Landlord (assistant resident manager), and the tenancy was legally terminated on October 10, 2024, following the end of employment. A separate LTB order (LTB-L-090047-24) addressed eviction and compensation starting May 30, 2025. This application was amended to seek rent arrears for the 'gap' period from the day after the Tenant was required to vacate (October 25, 2024) until the initial hearing period of May 29, 2025.
The ruling
The Tenant is ordered to pay the Landlord $4,130.88, which includes rent arrears for the period between October 25, 2024, and May 29, 2025, plus the application filing fee. If the amount is not paid by November 7, 2025, interest will accrue at a rate of 4.00% annually.
