What happened
The landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the tenant because the tenant did not meet a condition specified in a previous order issued by the LTB. The tenant failed to pay $500 towards rent arrears by May 25, 2023, and also failed to pay the lawful rent by June 1, 2023.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective July 9, 2023. The tenant must pay the landlord $6,600.84 (less any payments made after June 7, 2023) and $33.53 per day for compensation for use of the unit starting June 29, 2023 until the tenant moves out. If the tenant does not pay the full amount by July 9, 2023, the tenant will owe interest at 6% annually on the outstanding balance.
