What happened
The Landlord applied to terminate the tenancy due to non-payment of rent. An initial order was issued in July 2025 after the Tenant failed to attend the hearing. The Tenant requested a review, claiming technical difficulties prevented her from joining the original hearing. The Board granted the review, cancelled the previous order, and heard the merits of the case. The Landlord established significant rent arrears dating back several months, while the Tenant sought more time to secure financial assistance.
The ruling
The LTB granted the Tenant's request for review and cancelled the previous eviction order. However, upon rehearing the case, the Board found that the Tenant owed substantial rent arrears. The tenancy is terminated effective December 15, 2025, unless the Tenant voids the order by paying $7,891.65 by November 30, 2025, or $8,023.65 by December 15, 2025. If the Tenant does not void the order, she must vacate by December 15, 2025, and pay the Landlord $7,709.78.
