What happened
The Landlord applied to evict the Tenant from a unit they claimed was a superintendent's premises. The Tenant's employment as superintendent was terminated on May 1, 2025, but he did not vacate. The Tenant was absent from the hearing. The adjudicator initially questioned if the unit was a designated superintendent's unit but, after reviewing case law, concluded it was and granted the eviction.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective May 1, 2025, due to the end of the Tenant's employment as a superintendent. The Tenant is ordered to vacate the unit by July 11, 2025. Additionally, the Tenant must pay the Landlord daily compensation of $45.76 from May 1, 2025, until they move out. If the Tenant fails to vacate, the Landlord can enforce the eviction via the Sheriff starting July 12, 2025.
