What happened

Landlords applied to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenants due to substantial interference with the reasonable enjoyment of the rental unit and persistent late payment of rent. The Landlords also sought compensation for unpaid utility costs.

The ruling

The Landlords' application to terminate the tenancy is dismissed as the parties have previously reached a consent order to terminate the tenancy on July 31, 2024. However, the Landlords' request for compensation for unpaid utility costs is granted. The Tenants are ordered to pay the Landlords $4,397.64 for the unpaid utility costs and $186 for the application filing fee, for a total of $4,583.64, by November 8, 2024. If the Tenants do not pay the full amount by the due date, they will owe interest at 6% annually on the outstanding balance.
