What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenants due to the Tenant causing a fire in the rental unit that resulted in extensive damage and displacement of other tenants.

The ruling

The Landlord's application to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenants is granted. The Tenants must vacate the rental unit by March 15, 2024. If the unit is not vacated by that date, the Landlord may file the order with the Court Enforcement Office for enforcement. The Tenants shall also pay the Landlord compensation of $52.14 per day for use of the unit starting January 11, 2024 until the date they move out. The Landlord owes the Tenants $1,734.11 for the rent deposit and interest.
