What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant due to persistent late payment of rent. The Landlord also claimed compensation for each day the Tenant remained in the unit after the termination date, as well as reimbursement for unpaid utility costs.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective September 29, 2023. The Tenant must pay the Landlord $29,056.07, which includes rent arrears, compensation for use of the unit, unpaid utility costs, NSF fees, and the application filing fee. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by September 29, 2023, they will owe interest at 6% annually on the outstanding balance.
