What happened

The Landlord applied for an order for rent arrears and daily compensation against the Former Tenants who had already vacated the rental unit. The Former Tenants attempted to raise maintenance issues (Section 82), but the adjudicator ruled these must be addressed in a separate, already-commenced T6 application before a different member. The Former Tenants did not dispute the calculation of rent arrears.

The ruling

The Former Tenants are ordered to pay the Landlord a total of $2,184.49. This amount includes $1,998.49 for rent and compensation owing up to November 4, 2024, and $186.00 for the application filing fee. If payment is not made by October 13, 2025, interest will accrue at a rate of 4.00% annually.
