What happened
Tenants filed T6 and T2 applications alleging maintenance failures (deck, screens, air ducts), illegal entry, harassment via N12 notice and text threats, and interference with vital services (heat and water). The LTB found the Landlord entered the unit illegally by opening a porch door without notice and harassed the tenants by intentionally disconnecting internet for two days following a rent dispute. Other claims regarding maintenance and vital services were dismissed due to lack of evidence or lack of deliberate intent by the Landlord.
The ruling
The Landlords are ordered to pay the Tenants $298.00 by August 16, 2025. This includes $200.00 for illegal entry, $50.00 for harassment (internet disconnection), and $48.00 for the filing fee. All other claims, including maintenance issues and vital service interference, were dismissed.
