What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant due to non-payment of rent and because the Tenant entered into an agreement (N11 form) to terminate the tenancy. The Tenant did not attend the hearing.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective July 1, 2023. The Tenant must pay the Landlord $2,600.11, which includes rent arrears up to the hearing date and the filing costs, minus the rent deposit and interest. The Tenant must also pay daily compensation of $14.79 from February 17, 2023 until the Tenant vacates the unit. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by July 1, 2023, the Tenant will owe interest at 6% annually on the outstanding balance.
