What happened
The Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenants due to non-payment of rent. The Tenants filed a separate application alleging the Landlord failed to meet their maintenance obligations under the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006 with respect to bedbugs, pests, mold, and interference with the Tenants' rights.
The ruling
The Landlord's application to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenants due to non-payment of rent was granted. The Tenants may void the order and continue the tenancy by paying $16,121.83 on or before January 20, 2024. If the Tenants do not void the order, they must pay the Landlord $13,526.84 and vacate the unit by January 20, 2024. The Landlord was also ordered to pay the Tenants $6,664.58 for maintenance issues.
