What happened
The Landlord applied to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenants for non-payment of rent. One of the Tenants attended the hearing and did not dispute the arrears but requested relief from eviction. The Board found the tenancy was no longer viable due to the Tenants' lack of steady income and a plan to repay the arrears. However, the Board granted a short delay in the eviction date to allow the Tenants time to find new accommodation.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated unless the Tenants pay the outstanding amount. The Tenants can void the order by paying $14,202.00 by April 30, 2025, or $16,538.00 by May 31, 2025. If they fail to pay, they must vacate by May 31, 2025, and pay the Landlord $10,144.40 plus $76.80 daily compensation from April 9, 2025, until they move out. The eviction was postponed to allow the Tenants time to find new housing.
