What happened
The Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant due to non-payment of rent. Although the Tenant made a significant payment of $5,000.00 after the application was filed, a balance remained. The Tenant failed to attend the hearing to provide any reasons for relief from eviction. The LTB ordered the termination of the tenancy unless the Tenant pays the total arrears to void the order.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective August 9, 2025, unless the Tenant voids the order by paying the specified arrears ($2,687.20 by July 31 or $4,591.77 by August 9). If the Tenant does not void the order, they must move out by August 9, 2025, and pay the Landlord $401.30, plus daily compensation of $62.62 from July 25, 2025, until they vacate.
