What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant due to non-payment of rent. The Tenant had been a tenant for 6 years and was current on rent until he was injured and unable to work for several weeks. The Tenant requested a 14-month payment plan to pay the arrears, but the Landlord argued the Tenant's income was insufficient to sustain the tenancy.

The ruling

The tenancy will be terminated on December 31, 2023 unless the Tenant pays $17,069 by November 30, 2023 or $19,974 by December 31, 2023 to void the order. If the Tenant does not pay, they must vacate by December 31, 2023 and owe $10,929.85 plus daily compensation.
