What happened
Tenants applied for an order determining that the Landlords altered the locking system on the rental unit without providing replacement keys, substantially interfered with the reasonable enjoyment of the rental unit, and harassed, obstructed, coerced, threatened or interfered with the Tenants.
The ruling
The Landlords did not harass, obstruct, coerce, threaten or interfere with the Tenants. However, the Landlords failed to return the Tenants to possession of the full rental unit including the basement as required by the interim order. As a result, the Tenants incurred increased rent of $9,000.00 for a one-year period after they left the rental unit, and the Landlords shall be required to pay this amount to the Tenants.
