What happened
The Landlords applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant due to non-payment of rent. The Tenant did not attend the hearing, but a representative requested an adjournment for a medical appointment, which was denied. The Board determined the Tenant owed significant rent arrears and ordered termination of the tenancy with a postponed eviction date due to the Tenant's financial hardship and loss of employment.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective August 31, 2025. The Tenant must pay the Landlords $7,146.16 to cover rent arrears and the application fee, after accounting for payments made and the rent deposit. To void the eviction and continue the tenancy, the Tenant must pay a total of $18,731.60 by August 31, 2025. If the Tenant does not vacate or pay, the Landlords may enforce the eviction through the Sheriff starting September 1, 2025.
