What happened
The landlord applied for an order requiring the tenant to pay the rent that the tenant owes. The tenant did not pay the total rent they were required to pay for the period from July 1, 2022 to August 31, 2022. The tenant is no longer in possession of the rental unit, but the tenancy was not lawfully terminated in accordance with a notice of termination, LTB order or agreement to terminate the tenancy.
The ruling
The tenant shall pay the landlord $1,681.76, which includes rent arrears owing up to August 31, 2022 and the cost of the application minus the rent deposit and interest owing. If the tenant does not pay the full amount by June 26, 2023, the tenant will start to owe interest at 6.00% annually on the balance outstanding.
