What happened
The Landlords filed applications for non-payment of rent, persistent late rent payments, and substantial interference by the Tenant. The Tenant was alleged to have caused disturbances through noise, intoxication, and threatening other residents. The Tenant did not attend the hearing, and the Landlord and Tenant Board proceeded based on the Landlords' uncontested evidence, ultimately ordering the termination of the tenancy.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated, and the Tenant must vacate the rental unit by June 16, 2025. The Tenant is ordered to pay the Landlords $5,498.25 for rent arrears and filing fees. Additionally, the Tenant must pay daily compensation of $49.32 for each day they occupy the unit after February 18, 2025. No relief from eviction was granted due to the severity of the issues and the Tenant's failure to participate in the process.
