What happened
The Landlord filed an application to evict the Tenants for non-payment of rent. One of the Tenants attended the hearing, acknowledging the debt but citing significant financial hardship due to unemployment, separation from the co-tenant, and caring for four children. The Landlord, a 70-year-old pensioner, testified that the loss of rental income was causing him personal financial strain. The Board considered the circumstances of both parties and decided to grant a delayed eviction.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated unless the Tenant pays either $6,136.00 by June 30, 2025, or $7,536.00 by July 16, 2025. If the order is not voided, the Tenant must move out by July 16, 2025, and pay the Landlord $3,235.52, plus daily compensation of $46.03 from June 6, 2025, until vacating. The Board delayed the eviction to give the Tenant a chance to find funds or new housing due to her financial hardship.
