What happened

The Landlords applied for the termination of tenancy and eviction of the Tenant due to persistent non-payment of rent and significant arrears. The Tenant admitted to unilaterally reducing the rent by $200.00, arguing it was closer to market value, and cited financial hardship as a reason for the default. The Board found the tenancy was no longer viable given the Tenant's financial situation.

The ruling

The LTB ordered the termination of the tenancy effective August 29, 2025. The Tenant is required to pay $6,586.00 by August 22, 2025, to void the eviction and continue the tenancy. If the Tenant does not pay, she must vacate by the termination date and pay the Landlords $1,695.16 plus daily compensation of $92.05 until she moves out.
