What happened

Tenants applied for an order determining that the Landlords collected or retained money illegally by increasing the rent in excess of the amount allowed by the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006 without proper notice.

The ruling

The Landlords are ordered to pay the Tenants a total of $336.80, which includes $200 for excess rent collected, $83.80 for interest on the last month's rent deposit, and $53 for the cost of filing the application. If the Landlords do not pay the full amount by December 16, 2023, they will owe interest at 7% annually on the outstanding balance.
