What happened
The Landlord applied to evict the Tenant for non-payment of rent. The Tenant, a construction worker, acknowledged the arrears, stating they resulted from a layoff. The Tenant requested relief from eviction and a payment plan, citing his family (wife and three children) and an anticipated return to full-time work. The Landlord opposed any relief due to the substantial amount of arrears.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated unless the Tenant voids the order by paying the outstanding amount. The Tenant can pay $23,167.80 by June 5, 2025, or $26,037.80 by June 8, 2025, to continue the tenancy. The Tenant's request for relief from eviction was denied due to the high amount of arrears. If the order is not voided, the Tenant must pay the Landlord $20,297.80 plus daily compensation of $94.36 from May 6, 2025, until moving out.
