What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant due to non-payment of rent. The Tenant was formerly an employee of the Landlord and had previously qualified for rental payments at a reduced rate, but is now paying market rent which she cannot afford. The Tenant is looking for new work and believes she will qualify for rent-geared-to-income subsidies, but has not yet obtained the necessary documentation.
The ruling
The Tenant shall pay the Landlord $6,014.00 in rent arrears and costs, with a payment plan of $100 per month until December 2024, and the balance due by January 31, 2025. The Tenant shall also pay new rent on time and in full. If the Tenant fails to make any of the payments, the Landlord may apply for an order terminating the tenancy and evicting the Tenant.
