What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant due to the Tenant's failure to pay utility costs they were required to pay under the terms of the tenancy agreement. The Tenant vacated the rental unit prior to the hearing.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated as of January 19, 2024. The Tenant is ordered to pay the Landlord $1,019.02 for unpaid utility costs and $186.00 for the application filing fee, for a total of $1,205.02. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by March 31, 2024, they will owe interest at 7% annually on the outstanding balance.
