What happened
The Landlord applied for termination and eviction based on non-payment of rent. An order was issued in July 2025. The Tenant requested a review of that order, claiming they missed the original hearing because they were sprayed by a skunk in a conservation area early in the morning, had to walk home, and subsequently fell asleep from exhaustion just before the hearing began.
The ruling
The Tenant's request for a review of the original eviction order is denied. The Board found the Tenant's explanation for missing the previous hearing—being sprayed by a skunk and falling asleep—was not credible due to a lack of evidence. The stay of the original order is lifted immediately, confirming the eviction and any associated payment orders.
