What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to non-payment of rent and persistent late payment of rent. The Tenant did not attend the hearing despite being properly served notice.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated effective February 26, 2024 due to the Tenant's persistent late payment of rent. The Tenant must pay the Landlord $182.23, which includes rent arrears and the application filing fee, minus the rent deposit and interest owed. The Tenant must also pay daily compensation of $31.14 from January 16, 2024 until the date they vacate the unit. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by February 26, 2024, they will owe interest at 7% annually on the outstanding balance.
