What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenants because the Landlord in good faith requires possession of the rental unit for the purpose of residential occupation for at least one year. The Landlord also claimed compensation for each day the Tenants remained in the unit after the termination date, and for unpaid utility costs.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective July 31, 2023. The Tenants must vacate the unit by this date, or the Landlord may file the order with the Sheriff to enforce the eviction. The Tenants must pay the Landlord $770 in rent arrears, the monthly rent for May-July 2023, $5,526.53 for unpaid utility costs, and $186 for the application fee. If the Tenants do not pay the full amount by July 31, 2023, they will owe interest at 6% annually on the outstanding balance.
