What happened

The landlord applied for an order requiring the tenants to pay the rent they owed. The tenants had vacated the rental unit on April 30, 2024, but had not paid the full rent for the period from June 1, 2023 to April 30, 2024.

The ruling

The Tenant shall pay the Landlord $17,336, which includes $17,150 in rent arrears up to April 30, 2024 and $186 in application filing costs. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by October 19, 2024, they will start owing interest at 6% annually on the outstanding balance.
