What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants due to persistent late payment of rent. The Landlord also claimed compensation for each day the Tenants remained in the unit after the termination date and for unpaid utility costs.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated effective May 26, 2024. The Tenants must pay the Landlord $1,079.12, which includes compensation for use of the unit, unpaid utility costs, and the application filing fee, minus the rent deposit and interest. If the Tenants do not pay the full amount by May 26, 2024, they will owe interest at 7% annually on the outstanding balance.
