What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to non-payment of rent. The Tenant failed to pay rent from September 1, 2020 to July 31, 2021. The Landlord served a Notice of Termination effective January 20, 2021. The Tenant did not attend the hearing.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated effective January 16, 2022, unless the Tenant voids the order by paying $23,686.00 (less any payments made after July 5, 2021) by January 16, 2022. The Tenant is ordered to pay $20,270.85 (less any payments made after July 5, 2021) plus $52.60 per day starting January 6, 2022, for rent arrears, compensation, and filing costs. If not paid, the Landlord may file for eviction enforcement starting January 17, 2022.
