What happened
Landlords applied to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenants in order to demolish the rental unit, which they purchased as part of a larger property acquisition to integrate into their farming operations. The Tenants argued the Landlords were not acting in good faith.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective April 30, 2022. The Tenants must vacate the rental unit by that date. If the Tenants have not cashed the compensation cheque provided by the Landlords, the Landlords must provide the Tenants with compensation equal to one month's rent by November 30, 2021. The Tenants shall pay the Landlords $26.30 per day for use of the unit from April 30, 2022 until they vacate.
