What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to the Tenant, another occupant, or someone the Tenant permitted in the residential complex seriously impairing the safety of any person, wilfully causing undue damage to the premises, and substantially interfering with the reasonable enjoyment or lawful right, privilege or interest of the Landlord in a building that has three or fewer residential units and the Landlord resides in the building.
The ruling
The Tenant shall pay the Landlord $5,000 for the reasonable costs of repairing the damage and replacing the damaged property, and $186 for the cost of filing the application, for a total of $5,186. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by October 16, 2022, the Tenant will start to owe interest at 4% annually on the outstanding balance.
