What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant because of serious impairment of safety. The Tenant had stored combustible materials near the furnace and slept in the basement furnace room, which seriously impaired the safety of other residents.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated, and the Tenant shall vacate the rental unit on or before July 31, 2021. The Tenant shall pay the Landlord $8.12 per day for compensation for the use of the unit from August 1, 2021 to the date she vacates the unit, and $186.00 for the cost of filing the application. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount owing by June 19, 2021, the Tenant will start to owe interest at 2.00% annually on the outstanding balance.
