What happened

Tenant filed applications alleging the Landlord failed to meet maintenance obligations, harassed the Tenant, and collected illegal rent. The issues included a malfunctioning refrigerator, washing machine, insufficient heating and air conditioning, flooding and mold in the basement, and an illegal rent increase.

The ruling

The Landlord is ordered to pay the Tenant $435.60 for the illegal rent increase, $110.55 for interest on the last month's rent deposit, and $1,155.00 for a rent abatement due to the mold issue in the basement. The Tenant's other claims were dismissed.
