What happened

Landlords applied for an order to increase the rent charged by more than the guideline due to extraordinary increases in municipal taxes and charges, and capital expenditures. The Tenant, Elizabeth Becker, made submissions which were considered.

The ruling

The Landlords were granted a rent increase above the guideline of 1.62% due to extraordinary increases in municipal taxes/charges and capital expenditures. The increase is to be taken in the first year, and the rent will be reduced after the weighted useful life of the capital expenditures.
