What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to Tenant, an occupant of the rental unit or a person permitted in the residential complex by the Tenant, wilfully or negligently causing undue damage to the rental unit and residential complex by clogging the toilet with objects like combs, causing the toilet to leak into the rental unit below.

The ruling

The Tenant shall pay to the Landlord $1,125.56, which represents the reasonable costs of repairing the damage. The Tenant shall also pay to the Landlord $201.00 for the cost of filing the application. If the Tenant does not pay the Landlord the full amount owing on or before March 5, 2022, the Tenant will start to owe interest. This will be simple interest calculated from March 6, 2022 at 2.00% annually on the balance outstanding.
