What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to non-payment of rent. The Tenant did not attend the hearing. The Landlord served a Notice of Termination effective February 10, 2022, due to rent arrears from August 1, 2021, to January 31, 2022.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated effective February 28, 2022, unless the Tenant voids the order by paying $1,900.00 on or before that date. The Tenant must pay $1,228.03 for rent arrears and compensation up to February 10, 2022, plus $23.80 per day from February 11, 2022, until move-out, and $186.00 for application filing costs. If not paid by February 28, 2022, interest will accrue at 2.00% annually from March 1, 2022.
