What happened
Landlord applied for an order requiring Tenant to pay the rent that is owed. The Tenant gave notice to vacate the rental unit on September 30, 2020, but the Landlord did not accept the short notice and is seeking rent for October 2020.
The ruling
The Tenancy is terminated as of October 31, 2020. The Tenant shall pay the Landlord $1,506.94, which represents the rent owing up to October 31, 2020, minus the last month rent deposit. The Landlord will credit the Tenant any interest owing on the last month rent deposit. The Tenant shall also pay the Landlord $201.00 for the cost of filing the application. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by June 25, 2021, they will start to owe simple interest at 2.00% annually on the outstanding balance.
