What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants due to persistent late payment of rent. The Tenants owed the Landlord nearly 18 months of rent totaling $41,016 as of September 2021. The Tenants paid $35,000 to void the previous order, but have since fallen behind on rent and utility payments.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective March 11, 2022. The Tenants must vacate the unit by that date and pay the Landlord $17,767, which includes rent arrears, utility costs, application fees, and compensation for use of the unit. If the Tenants do not pay the full amount by March 11, 2022, they will owe interest on the outstanding balance.
