What happened

Landlord applied to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenants due to the need to do major repairs or renovations to the rental unit. The Landlord was required to compensate the Tenants one month's rent, but failed to do so properly by the termination date.

The Landlord's application is dismissed because the Landlord failed to properly compensate the Tenants by the termination date as required by the Act. The Tenants are ordered to return the $945.36 compensation cheque to the Landlord, and will owe interest if they do not pay by October 1, 2021.
