What happened

Tenants applied for an order determining that the Landlord collected or retained money illegally by increasing the rent in excess of the amount allowed by the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006.

The ruling

The Landlord is ordered to pay the Tenants $1,950 in excess rent collected and $53 for the cost of filing the application, for a total of $2,003. If the Landlord does not pay by February 21, 2022, they will owe interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance.
