What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to failure to pay rent. The Landlord also applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant because the Tenant, another occupant of the rental unit or someone the Tenant permitted in the residential complex has substantially interfered with the reasonable enjoyment or lawful right, privilege or interest of the Landlord or another tenant.

The ruling

The tenancy between the Landlord and the Tenant is terminated as of January 6, 2021. The Tenant shall pay to the Landlord $9,714.65, which represents the amount of rent owing and compensation up to January 6, 2021, less the rent deposit and interest the Landlord owes on the rent deposit. The Tenant shall also pay to the Landlord $201.00 for the cost of filing the application. The total amount owing under this order is $9,915.65. If the Tenant does not pay the Landlord the full amount owing on or before July 2, 2021, the Tenant will start to owe interest at 2.00% annually on the balance outstanding.
