What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants due to persistent late payment of rent. The Tenants paid rent late 11 out of 12 months between May 2020 and April 2021, and continued to pay late or not at all leading up to the hearing date.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated, and the Tenants must vacate the rental unit by October 30, 2021. The Tenants shall pay the Landlord $4,294.54, which includes compensation for use of the unit, the application filing fee, less the rent deposit and interest owed on the deposit. If the Tenants do not pay the full amount by October 30, 2021, they will owe interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance.
