What happened

Landlord applied to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants due to non-payment of rent and persistent late payment of rent. The Tenants did not attend the hearing.

The ruling

The tenancy was terminated effective May 25, 2020 when the Tenants vacated the rental unit. The Tenants are ordered to pay the Landlord $13,879.73 in rent arrears and compensation, plus $190 in application fees, by April 9, 2021. If the full amount is not paid by that date, the Tenants will owe interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance.
