What happened

Landlord applied for an order requiring Tenant to pay the rent that the Tenant owes. The Tenant did not pay the total rent the Tenant was required to pay for the period from October 1, 2020 to July 31, 2021. The Tenant vacated the rental unit on July 31, 2021.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated as of July 31, 2021, the date the Tenant vacated the rental unit. The Tenant shall pay the Landlord $7,322.00, which represents the rent owing up to July 31, 2021 less the last month's rent deposit, and $201.00 for the cost of filing the application. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount owing by September 30, 2022, the Tenant will start to owe interest at 2.00% annually on the outstanding balance.
