What happened

Landlords applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to major repairs or renovations required in the rental unit. The Landlords need to upgrade the unit to comply with city building, fire, and safety codes.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated effective January 15, 2023, to allow Landlords to complete necessary renovations to comply with city codes. The Tenant must vacate by this date. The Tenant has the right of first refusal to reoccupy the unit after renovations are complete if proper written notice is given.
