What happened
Tenants applied for an order determining that the Landlords harassed, obstructed, coerced, threatened or interfered with them, entered the rental unit illegally, altered the locking system without providing replacement keys, and substantially interfered with the reasonable enjoyment of the rental unit or residential complex.
The ruling
The Landlord is ordered to pay the Tenants $1,425.45 for rent abatement during the lock-out period, $3,000 for displacement expenses, $4,500 for damaged/lost personal property, and $45 for the application filing fee, for a total of $8,970.45. If the Landlord does not pay the full amount by August 21, 2020, they will owe interest at 3% annually on the outstanding balance.
